I really should take a look. AG - are those two functions all you need to get/update Cube Points? Is the update function, addition points or the new total for that user?

If it's that straightforward I can add to the dev classes and then use them in the WPS core in various places.

I'll take a download later and see if I can get CubePoints up and running.... Keep nudging me!!!

My previous message was a private 'nudge' to Simon related to discussions we had recently...  Sorry for the private thing  ;)

To further elaborate... In fact what I meant is that if WPS was storing data in WP user_meta rather than a dedicated table, admins could 'watch' metadata changes through an add_action('updated_user_meta',..) (line 158 of meta.php) in their functions.php file. In this case, to increment the user counter along with  the WPS rank or whatever algorythm they wish.

So it's not exactly the way you describe it, but the other way round instead, as there's no way I'm aware of, to detect changes in WPS dev classes...

From what I can read, yes that's the user personal counter (total nr of points), but SImon if I may (already mentionned that I'd rather prefer an 'open' WPS so that we users are able to perform such actions), you shouldn't implement it directly into WPS, as that would be dead code for 99% of WPS users, but as a CubePoint module... Which would give even more visibility to WPS  :) :)

I agree, although totally off-trac I'm going to see if I can knock up a test CubePoints module for WP Symposium, starting with something simple like points for posting on your own or someone elses profile page (actually nearly done that). We can then have a test, if it works, then apply it to other areas.

Important thing is that it will use WPS hooks, and be totally self contained in a CubePoints module, using the CubePoints wordpress plugin.

Ok, so you can download a BETA test of the CubePoints module for WP Symposium via the tutorials page.

At the moment, bear in mind it’s currently under BETA TESTING with just the following (if it goes well, I’ll add loads of WPS options for CubePoints configuration):

• Posting on other members profile page

This is right so that members can't get loads of points just be adding profile posts, removing them, and adding another one, etc, etc...

Woow i got soo excieted!! Such a good news As a last step it will be very nice if u could integrate it to users profiles. So that we could see users points on their profile and allso their ranks gained in CB that will be totally awesome! once again thanx!!

Once it looks like it's working ok (I think it is), then this could be added to page templates, and options for WPS

Ok, so from v12.03.03, WPS will support profile posts, forum activity and making friends. Download the CubePoints module here.

Oh, forgot to add, there is also an option to show a member's cubepoints and their rating (if you use that optional module) on their profile page under the avatar.

I was poking around in the code and this is how I got the profile to show my custom "currency", changed around line 215 of wp_symposium_cubepoints.php  (the module)

For other newbs like me, the &#162; is the "html entity" for the cent sign and you can find $ or whatever with the website I gave. Probably there is a nicer way to do this via the admin, but it works so far.

I can't find any cubepoints zip. module to load. I know Cubepoints from my other portals but I can't find module exactly for wpsymposium. Link on: http://www.wpsymposium.com/2012/02/wp-symposium-cubepoints-module/ is not working - no file. Any help will be highly appreciated
 

Sorry - broken link, was deleted when I upgraded CubePoints plugin. Me the daft fool.

I'll get it replaced asap (probably when back in the UK).

PS. Found a wifi hotspot, not back on the forum, this is not me.....  

PPS. In the meantime has anyone got a copy of the wp_symposium_cubepoints.zip file that they could attached to a post here so it's available???

Ah... this is an old version. I will have to update with the various extra features (posting to forum, etc, etc). I'll pop that to the top of the to-do list. With the basic functionality there, I can get it back up with those options. But thank you very much for sharing, adding the extra features is easy with the core functionality in place.

If anyone has a later version, feel free to share, otherwise I'll get the version above updated in the meantime.

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I've been teaching myself web design for a grand two days now so if this is a silly question or if I'm making little sense please forgive me and point me in the right direction. I thought I'd post what I did incase any other total newbie comes along and it might save them some time too (if I got it right that is)

So ....I liked the sound of adding a points system to my web page (that I'm building with Word Press & Symposium) and I followed the instructions given above.  Number 4 gave me a little bit of trouble as I had no idea what a module folder was so I just wanted to check that I did what I was meant to:

Unzip the file and put wp_symposium_cubepoints.php inside the module folder, that’s inside the CubePoints plugin folder.

I guessed that the module folder is where you go when you click 'edit' after you've gone to the 'plugin', 'installed plugins' tab.  So I copied and pasted all the info in the downloaded file (wp_symposium_cubepoints.php) there at the bottom of the info found at: plugins/installed plugins/cubepoints/edit.

It seems to have worked in that I now have a 'cubepoints' tab on my Word Press 'dashboard' (I hope that's the right name for it).  

In the 'configure' area of 'cubepoints' I found a box that said 'show info above profile menu' - I ticked that and sure enough I now have 'activity points' and 'rank' showing in my 'profile' area.

My questions are:  Is that it, did I miss anything?  Is that all that was meant to happen? (I have customed some of the points settings under cubepoints/configure).

and

I'm trying to build a good Q&A forum with the Symposium Forum and would like people to be able to vote for answers and give a set number of points when they do so, also for the one who asked the question I'd like them to be able to choose the 'best answer' on each thread giving a set number of points when they do this - is this possible to all make it work together with 'cube points'?

Hi Peeps, any progress on the Cube Points front or is it still conflicting with WPS?  I just reactivated it again and am getting the same header warning issues.
