PDF's & SEO

Hi,

My website's articles are currently being displayed in PDF format, using a plugin that allows me to attatch pdfs directly into the page for them to be read entirely in-page,

However, Out of interest, How would this effect SEO?

would the lack of direct text negatively effect the rankings? Or is text,text?
