I do not know what you are about, links are suppose to auto hypertext as active.

Your comments are not helpful and are degrading with your nonsense and display of ignorance of the process of TinyMCE or any text editor. If you have nothing to contrilbute, go watch T.V.

This part is for those who are having the same problem yet earnestly trying seek a resolve. Any text editor should indentify any URL and make it an active link, however this forum mod does not. It stops auto generating active links from URLs after the first successful URL link. This is certainly an error.

Sorry, @Caps, but you harvest what you sown. Some basics rules:

1. Read all the documentation, available online here.


2. Search the forum


3. Post a message starting with "I have a problem" or "Is there a way to..." rather than "there is a bug".

Rule #2 applies even for your own posts...

Ignoring the issue of previous posts, etc, v12.06.30 now uses the WordPress make_clickable() function on all topic posts and activity posts. This should put this discussion to bed.

Oh, you can retrospectively check previous topics here, the links are generated dynamically.

Thank you Simon for bringing this to your attention and resolving this - I look forward to the fix. I am using the plugin: "Auto-hyperlink URLs" with the make_clickable function now being added, this plugin will have no impact either way - correct?

Question: I thought the php function: "make_clickable"  was already implemeted from previous discussions. I was on about consecqutive URLs not being active as per my examples.

AlphaGoft and Ellweb, do this community a favor. If you do not like the way an individual is posing a question - and you can not contribute positive and consttuctive feedback, then just do not reply. You both have not added any value to resolving this issue of hypertexting problems. Would you have your customer service go on like this if this was your company? Take the high road.

Secondly - why does Simon get it and has moved to fix this issue and the both of you have not a clue what is going on?

Thirdly, my examples were all URLs, again you both missed.

I have no bad heart feelings to you both - and have the upmost respect for Simon.

I personnaly don't think I have missed anything, and have already decided I wouldn't respond to any of your posts. There are many others here to take care of, who have read the documentation, searched the forum, even their own posts (twice already for you...), before finally posting serious enquiries that don't start nasty posts with "I have found a bug".

I wish there were a function that allows hiding completely a poster in a WPS forum. I would use it there.

One last word, before moving on to something else...

• how many time have you contributed to this forum, e.g. with answers to questions or issues raised by others?


• how many times have you posted suggestions, for improvements or anything?


• when you claimed you had found a bug, how many times have you sent a bug fix to Simon?

With your answers, could you please post URLs (clickable, of course) to those topics, off your history, as I can't find anything else than complaints.

To those who discover the forum and wouldn't know us three, I strongly suggest to follow the link I posted yesterday, and make their own opinion. And please, do feel free to ask your questions, there are very nice people here 

As a footnote, WPS used to use it's own hyperlink replacement, symposium_make_url(). But with the availability of the WordPress make_clickable() function, it seemed sensible to share it. For info, it's not a PHP function, but a function in wp-includes/formatting.php. Now all calls to symposium_make_url() will use make_clickable().

Also, the TinyMCE toolbar includes the add/remove hyperlink which can be used if the user is not aware that URLs will be converted to hyperlinks. Perhaps, if the feeling is strong enough, the "auto-hyperlinking" action could be a site admin option, but I'll leave it there for now.

Many forum scripts, as listed here as examples, automaticaly make URLs active links such as: phpBB, Invision Boards, MyBB, Simple Machines and Simple Forum. Also forum mods found in Xoops, Concret5  and Joomla to name a few. So why would WPS forum be the exception?

If an individual enters a complete valid URL, it is always implied that the URL is a link. If the individual does not want a URL to contain an active link, then he or she would simply omit the "www" or "http" prefixes.

Examples: http://www.red.com / red.com

P.S. I do remember the limitation of the make_clickable function, if you include a punctuation to complete a sentence, and that punctuation is next the the URL, then the link will be broken .

The 12.07.02 update took care of any of the hyperlink issue. Will continue to test, then report back.
