There are no limitiations, other than the breadcrumbs which are not endless. Also consider user experience - too many levels gets a tad confusing.

Sub forums work nicely if the admin knows how to create them so they are not confusing. I would suggest only one sub forum level.

Currently Topics = Categories. Topics need to be renamed Categories then name the sub-forum, Topics.

Here is an example of needing sub-forums: http://talkingmanuals.com/discussions/ I would like to create a category named: WordPress Plugins. The under that category add topics like WPS or Content Buider as examples

Just to be clear:

• Topic(s) = a forum post, and it's replies (like you are reading here)


• Categories = a group of topics, like the "Forum plugin" this topic is in.

Via Forum Categories in admin, you can create as many categories within other categories as you like (just be careful and not too over-enthusiastic!)
