v12.03.24 Release Candidate available
Posted by Simon Goodchild at March 18th, 2012
There was no official release this weekend (would have been v12.03.17) because the changes are significant, namely:
- symposium_config table replaced with wp_options (more integral to WordPress, but not visible to users)
- BETA of reply-by-email plugin that allows members to reply to forum notifications, just be replying to the email received. See forum discussion.
- BETA for Mingle import (via Installation page)
- Fix to delete topic on forum in CubePoints module installed
- CubePoints module now optionally rewards for sharing forum topic via permalink/social media icons
The release candidate is available to bronze members only. If all goes well this week, it will form the release for 24th March.

The Mingle import works but doesn’t. You can import the individual forums, but wps forum creates categories instead of forums when it imports. There is currently no way to move unless you edit individual posts.
I know that it’s Beta, hope we can get it to work and I hope we can get wps forum to a more conventional layout so I can switch..
I’m afraid that’s a constraint. WPS has one forum, multiple categories, so a Mingle “forum” = a WPS “category”.
Sorry mjunker, I replied too soon. Could you confirm your problem? What should happen is Mingle forum becomes a category, with topics in that category set as those within the Mingle forum.
Simon,
The reply by email option is a completely separate plugin that won’t mess with anything if it’s left off, correct?
Yup, it’s stand-alone. Keep it deactivated if you don’t want to use it.
Are you going to add the thumbs up/like plugin also(only for WP Symposium users.. not facebook)??
With the release of v12.04.21 and maybe a week or two to ensure there are no big issues, I can then get back to improving functionality. Will probably set up a way for users to start voting on improvements :)
