CubePoints is a point management system designed for WordPress sites. Users can earn points by posting comments creating posts, or even by logging in on your site.
And now you can reward points for WP Symposium activity (posting on profile pages, getting involved in the forum and making friends).
Encourage your users to “do stuff” by offering them points which could be used to purchase items / upgrades / etc. Users will be awarded a certain number of points for each type of activity.
Note that you get points (that you set) for doing something, and the points taken away if you remove what you did. For example, if you post on your profile page you get points, and if you then delete the post the points are removed.
On this site (WPS site), you get the following points:
- For each comment on a blog post: 5
- For each day you visit the site: 5
- For posting on your own profile: 10
- For each forum topic you start: 10
- For each forum reply: 5
- Having a friend request accepted: 5
- Sharing a forum topic via social media icons: 5
- Having one of your profile posts liked: 5
- Having one of your profile posts disliked: -5
You can see your points total (and other members) on the profile page, under the avatar (this is an option in the module). The top members are shown on the home page, in the sidebar.
How to add to your site?
- Install the CubePoints plugin.
- Understand how it works, I can’t support CubePoints, for that go to their site (sorry).
- Download wp_symposium_cubepoints.zip (it’s a module for CubePoints).
- Unzip the file and put wp_symposium_cubepoints.php inside the module folder, that’s inside the CubePoints plugin folder.
- Activate the CubePoints module via the dashboard CubePoints->Modules page.
- Configure the WPS settings on the CubePoints->Configure page.

It works!!:)
It works!
:)
Love it thank you!
Thank you very much for this integration. It convinced me to finally make the switch over to WP Symposium, and so far everything has been amazing! I’d love to see additional features added to this plugin, so we can give points for all tasks we can have our visitors perform on WP Symposium. I’ll be watching this thread closely, and I’m happy to do any Beta testing that is required if that would assist in any way. Thanks again!
Thanks Beastrad – this weeks release (v02.03.03) will include an update to the CubePoints module to reward users when adding new forum topics and replies.
v12.03.03 now includes points for profile posts, forum posts and making friends :)
Hi Simon
This is absolutely fantastic!! I really appreciate all your hard work and I’m greatful to you for implementing cubepoints. Is it possible to award points for sharing groups, or forum posts on social media such as twitter or facebook? Thank you
If you mean creating WPS groups, then yep, I’ll add. Not sure I can do anything for external sites like facebook and twitter though via WPS :(
Hi Simon
I’d like to award points when they click share on the WPS forum which creates a share of the article on facebook, twitter or linked. I have attached a screenshot with a hover over tag below.

P.s. I’m assuming these share icons are part of WPS, otherwise I have no idea which plugins might be adding this.
@beastrad, understand now. I’ve made a note to add CP for sharing a forum post via social media icons. Hopefully for this weeks release.
Thank you Simon, I appreciate all the amazing work you are doing!! Please let me know how I can help support you for all your hard work!
Please where can I create the forum and profile post points. I have points for posts, daily points, youtube points, but can’t see where to create the one for forum and profile posts.
Go into Cubepoints…Configure…and Under WPSymposium, you will see the boxes you can use to fill in the points necessary for each action.
I’ve seen it. Cooooool
Hi,
Using this cubepoints module and really loving it!
1 thing that I would like to suggest is, to award additional points for answers that are chosen as correct in the “Forum”, this could motivate replies.
That’s a great idea, thanks. I’ll try and get this into next release (which is an important one, will blog about it this weekend…..)
I will be more than glad to see it implemented, using wp-symposium in a big way for educational purposes.
The next release (which is a significant one) includes CubePoints for having a reply selected as an answer, and awarding a topic owner when an answer is selected (both optional). Simon.
Ah – this brings to my memory an issue that I wanted to raise a while ago, in fact : one can accept his/her own answer, in the forum. I guess it wasn’t much of an issue so far, but in this context that a too easy way to earn points ;)
Hi elaine, do you have a copy of this you can upload to the forum at http://www.wpsymposium.com/discuss/upgrade-requests/cube-points-integration/ as the link is currently broken
Sorry all – the download link is ok now.
Link to download zip file doesn’t seem to be working :(
Sorry – thanks for letting us know, it’s there now…
